without needing to wipe all your non-OS system files that might be installed to the same drive)Īre there any risks to this kind of setup?Īre there any (performance/wear-and-tear) benefits/risks to partitioning like this with an SSD specifically?

Is there any benefit to creating a separate partition on the SSD for Windows 10? (I read somewhere that it can be handy if the OS gets corrupted, allowing you to wipe and do a fresh install of the OS without needing to reformat the entire drive-i.e.

encompassing the whole drive) and I install Windows 10 to it, will that still leave the unused-by-Windows storage space open and available for general usage, or would I need to create a partition to still have access to the "unused" space? I know Windows 10 will create its own sub-partitions for recovery, etc., but if I leave the SSD HD as a single large partition (i.e. I'm probably overthinking things on the first part here, but since so many people these days use a smaller SSD as a boot-dedicated HD + it's been a while since I did a clean install of Windows, I just wanted to make sure: I want to install Windows 10 to that SSD (single boot) while leaving the remaining data sectors available for general storage. I'm building a PC using a single 2Tb M.2 SSD for the main HD (will probably supplement it with a big HHD later on down the line for additional storage). It's not clear whether the MOBO's WiFi is BlueTooth-capable? I've got a BlueTooth speaker I use a lot. I'm not overclocking the CPU, but it said that some GPUs with larger power draws may need it-is that common/rare? I'm getting that warning about the "4-pin ATX power connector" RE: my power supply.

Other peripherals (monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers) I already have I'm going to pull the 1Tb SATA out of my old PC and use it for auxiliary deep-storage (game installs, old docs, etc.). In theory, could I then use the listed GPU for a CrossFire setup? I've never tangled with that before. (NOTE: even this lower-grade GPU listed is a big step up from my current AMD Radeon HD 7570)

Radeon RX 6700 XT) whenever I can find one at a sane price.

I can't find GPUs easily, the listed GPU is a temporary fit, but I'd like my rig to be future-proofed for an upgrade to a previous-gen. I'd like to VeraCrypt the whole system for security's sake & I've heard you get better performance out of OS installs to SSDs doing that, so that's my plan.īc. probably X-Com 2 probably not Control)) + medium-load workstation (coding (Visual Studio), tablet graphic design (CSP/Krita), game dev (Unity), occasional video editing, maybe 3D someday) Mainly used as a gaming PC up to mid-intensity-AAA titles (i.e. I've wanted to build a PC since I was in high school! Looking for final check/approval/anything weird I might have missed.
